The Destination Wedding

Published by lolak at 8:12 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Well as I’ve mentioned, I’m not that into wedding planning. There was one thing I was certain I wanted though – a destination wedding.

Mr Dreamboat and I will say our ‘I Dos’ at a 12th Century castle and vineyard in
Tuscany. There were many reasons for this:
Italy is beautiful and sunny; the venue is amazing; and having lived in
Italy, I love it even more than my homeland.

The main reason, however, is far less romantic.
Italy is far away. It is thousands of kilometres from old family friends that we haven’t seen since we were five, from our parents well meaning friends who had them at their daughter’s wedding, from friends that we don’t see that often. In other words,
Italy is far from all the people that we don’t want to invite!!

A colleague of mine is currently planning her wedding in her hometown where the guest list currently stands at 300. By marrying abroad I have managed to cut it down to 100. It is not rude to invite the bare minimum of guests to a destination wedding.

I will be having my (not very) big day surrounded only by my closest friends and family in a dream location. Perhaps I am not a reluctant bride, but a smart one!
